Josh Groban at the Emmys 2008

I know of many people who think Josh Groban's music was boring, which eventually led to him being boring as well. Ha! Well, here's a treat for them.. the talented Josh Groban performing the theme songs of US television shows over the years at the Emmys:

To the people who think classical singers are boring, this just proved you wrong.

Recorder Flute Fingerings

Yey! I found something to cheer me up amidst the bad luck I seem to having lately... I had doubts as to whether I would be able to find the notes and fingerings of the recorder flute. The recorder isn't as famous as its woodwind relations, after all. But here it is:

The Different Sounds of Pachelbel's Canon

After reminiscing on classical music and such, I still find Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D major to be one of my favorite music of all time. I don't think I'm the only one. Canon in D is Pachelbel's most popular music. For us here in the Eastern side of the globe, especially those who aren't really into classical music, I think the Canon became more popular with it being the soundtrack of hit Korean movie My Sassy Girl:

Canon in D major was made in the Baroque period, and was scored for three violins and basso continuo paired with a gigue. It usually has a slow tempo but has had faster renditions.

But the music has been adapted to other arrangements and other instruments:

Piano solo:

Violin, Cello, and Harp:

I'm not sure (I think this is an organ with guitar, but I'm no expert..):

World of Soundtracks Indeed!

I was scourging the Web for music downloads of The Replacements soundtrack. It took me some time to find a source; I guess soundtracks of movies that weren't so popular are very hard to find.

Luckily, I found a blog that knew exactly what movie 'n music buffs like me wanted:

http://worldofsoundtrack.blogspot.com/

Just as its blog name says, the blog is full of soundtracks from small-time movies to the popular ones. I'm gonna be paying a lot of attention to this blog --- it's a gold mine for me. ^_^

Settling by Tara Maclean

This is one of my favorite songs (probably of all time). I don't get tired listening to it, although it is a little heart-wrenching (and I guess that's one of the reasons why I like it).

Settling

Am I real? am I a dream?
Am I borrowed? am I blue?
Is it just the dust of leaving you
Settling?

Am I fair? am I strong?
Am I there? do I belong?
Is it only skin I touch
When I reach for you?

Oh, the leaves they fall,
They go so far sometimes.
Do I blame the wind
Or the tree for letting you go?
Or do I wave goodbye,
Setting?

Do I stay? do I fight?

Is it wrong and nothings right?
Or is it just the closet light
Ive offered you?

Oh the leaves they fall,
They go so far sometimes.
Do I blame the wind
Or the tree that let you go?
Or do I wave goodbye,
Settling?

So many times I needed
You to be strong to me.
But you bend beneath
The slightest breeze.
You have no leaves,
No leaves, no leaves...

Settling.
Am I fair? am I strong?
Do I stay? do I fight?
Is it just the closet light?
Is it only skin I touch,
Or is it just the dust
Settling?
